…BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON…

* WHAT…High surf possible. Breakers up to 23 ft could produce
large waves and dangerous surf conditions.

* WHERE…North Oregon Coast and Central Oregon Coast.

* WHEN…Through this afternoon.

* IMPACTS…People can be swept off rocks and jetties and drown
while observing high surf. Higher than normal water run-up is
possible on the beaches and low-lying shoreline.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.

…HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM PST THIS
AFTERNOON TO 5 AM PDT SUNDAY NEAR BEACHES AND HEADLANDS…

* WHAT…South winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph
expected near beaches and headlands.

* WHERE…North Oregon Coast and Central Oregon Coast.

* WHEN…From 2 PM PST this afternoon to 5 AM PDT Sunday.

* IMPACTS…Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.
Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be
difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…A period of strong southerly winds will
occur ahead of a cold front Saturday afternoon. A second period
of strong southwesterly winds will occur late Saturday night.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around
trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of
your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if
you must drive.
