On 02/01/2021 at about 1853 hours Astoria Police Department received a report of a stabbing that had occurred on the Riverwalk side of the Motel 6 at 288 W. Marine Dr. Responding officers found one of the involved subjects had walked away from the area and was being provided medical assistance for three stab wounds to his arm near the Astoria Library. The other involved subject and witnesses were still on scene near the Motel 6. The second involved subject had facial injuries he sustained during a physical altercation. Officers are still working to determine charges after collecting surveillance footage and further witness statements. Information sought regarding Attempted Robbery near 2nd and Marine
On 01/19/2021 at about 2:34 AM Astoria Police Department received a report of an attempted robbery near 2nd and Marine Dr. Officers arrived and contacted the victim and a witness. The victim reported they were walking in the area and were approached by a male suspect who brandished a knife. The suspect demanded the victim’s cell phone and threatened harm him if the victim did not comply. Another individual in the area at the time was able to intervene and the suspect fled on foot. The suspect is described as a white male with shoulder length blond hair, wearing a white checkered jacket, and a dark colored bandana. APD is seeking information regarding stabbing at 8th/Astor
On 01/06/2021 at 5:40 PM Astoria Police Department received a report of a disturbance in the area of 8th and Astor St. Officers arrived in the area and found one victim with a stab wound. There were several subjects in the area at the time but were either too intoxicated to give statements or uncooperative. Officers were able to speak with a few cooperating witnesses, unfortunately none of them observed the actual stabbing. It was determined there had been an ongoing issue at the 9th St. Park during the day just prior to the incident. Officers learned that at some point during the day, the victim had been in a physical altercation at the park with individuals that were suspected in the stabbing. Officers learned that just before the victim was stabbed, they were being chased by several individuals on Astor St. between 9th and 7th. The victim was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Columbia Memorial Hospital. Robbery ends with stabbing, two suspects in custody.
On 12/20/2020 at 9:01 PM Astoria Police Department received a report that a man had been stabbed 15 minutes earlier in 300 Block of Nehalem. During the investigation officers learned that two subjects had met with the victim in the area to conduct a drug deal. The suspects reportedly attempted to rob the victim with what were later determined to be bb gun / replica handguns. The victim reportedly produced a knife. One of the suspects also produced a knife and reportedly stabbed the victim in the right arm. The suspects then fled the scene on foot.
On 12/21/2020 At about 4:21 AM following investigation Officers located the two suspects, a 17 year old male from Astoria and 18 year old Dylan Bernier of Wellington Florida in the 1800 Block of 4th St. Astoria. Both suspects were taken into custody without incident on charges of Robbery I, Assault II, Menacing and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. The 17 year old was lodged at the Yamhill County Juvenile Detention Center and Bernier was lodged at the Clatsop County Jail.
The victim in the case was treated for his injuries and released. Mail Theft
There have been numerous mail theft complaints in the Lower Nehalem Rd/HWY 103/HWY 26/ general Elsie-Vinemaple area this morning. Thefts appeared to have occurred between 05:30-07:30 am. Suspect vehicle is an older body style small pickup, darker in color. If you find you have also been a victim, or have any information, please call Clatsop County Dispatch for Deputy Moore at 503-325-2061. The case number regarding this incident is C20202812.
Public Safety Building UPDATE 10/4 2:33pm
The area of 30th and Log Bronc are now being reopened after Oregon State Police Bomb Squad arrived and removed a suspected explosive device.
Astoria Police Department, Fire Department and 30th Street closed due to possible explosive device, Oregon State Police Bomb Squad en-route.
On 10/04/2020 at 11:29 hrs. Astoria Police Responded to the City of Astoria Public Safety Building following a report that a citizen had located a possible explosive device in Pacific County Washington and brought it to the Astoria Police Department. At this time the Public Safety Building shared by the Police Department, Fire Department, as well as 30th Street and Log Bronc streets are closed pending the arrival of the Oregon State Police Bomb Squad. The public is asked to avoid this area until the situation is resolved.
Missing 81 Year old Astoria Man located safe.
On 07/24/2020 at about 10:35 hrs. Astoria Police were notified that Missing 81 year old John Loutzenhiser was located by a citizen on Jerome Street and returned to his residence.
Astoria Police seek assistance in locating missing 81 year old man
On 07/24/2020 at 09:06 hrs. Astoria Police received a report from family members, that 81 year old John Loutzenhiser went missing from their residence in the 1100 Block of Harrison sometime between Midnight and 8:30 AM this morning. Mr. Loutzenhiser suffers from dementia and other medical conditions that put him at risk. Family checked areas of familiarity to Mr. Loutzenhiser but were unsuccessful in locating him.
Mr. Loutzenhiser is described as being 6 feet tall, weighing 145 pounds. He currently has a gray beard, brown eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing a black zippered polar fleece jacket, black pants , brown slip on shoes and a flat cap with a pin on the cap with the lettering FFRF. Mr.Loutzenhiser wears glasses and generally wears a wrist watch on the outside of his clothing.
Astoria Police Department is being assisted by the Clatsop County Search and Rescue Team.

Astoria Police investigate property crime caused by improvised explosive device.
On 07/06/2020 at 7:50 A.M. Astoria Police responded the Emerald Heights, Spruance parking area, for a report of property damage to a vehicle related to fireworks. Upon investigation it was determined that an improvised explosive device made with additional items to act as projectiles had been set off causing damage to two vehicles. Debris from the devices was thrown in an approximately, 30 foot radius from the explosion site. Based on interviews, it is believed the device was set off at approximately 2:00 AM on 07/06/2020
