…SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR NORTHWESTERN CLATSOP AND WESTERN
PACIFIC COUNTIES UNTIL 445 AM PST…

At 418 AM PST, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 11 miles southwest of Long Beach to 16 miles
west of Cannon Beach. Movement was northeast at 35 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include…
Astoria, Seaside, Warrenton, Cannon Beach, Long Beach, Ocean Park,
and Ilwaco.

In Washington this includes U. S. Highway 101 between mile markers 1
and 49.

This includes the following highways in Oregon…
U.S. Highway 101 between mile markers 1 and 28.

…HIGH WIND WATCH IN EFFECT FOR THE BEACHES AND COASTAL HEADLANDS
FROM MONDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING…

The National Weather Service in Portland has issued a High Wind
Watch for the beaches and coastal headlands, which is in effect
from Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning.

* WINDS…South 25 to 35 mph with gusts of 55 to 60 mph possible
for beaches and coastal headlands. Winds are not expected to be
as strong in the coastal communities.

* TIMING…Winds will begin to increase later in the day Monday.
The strongest winds are expected Mon evening and overnight into
early Tuesday morning.

* IMPACTS…Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power
lines. Isolated power outages are possible. Drivers in high
profile vehicles should use caution.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A High Wind Watch means hazardous high wind conditions are
favorable in and close to the watch area in the next 12 to
48 hours.
