Astoria man stabbed at 11th and Marine following a disturbance.

On 05/29/2019 at about 8:15 PM, Officers were dispatched to 11th and Marine for a report of disturbance and possible stabbing. On arrival officers discovered a 39 year old Astoria man laying on the sidewalk, he was conscious and alert but had a single stab wound to the chest. The other male involved in the altercation, a 35 year old Astoria man remained at the scene. Based on witness accounts the men were engaged in some sort of a physical disturbance just prior to the stabbing. The man responsible for the stabbing had reportedly been assaulted by the stabbing victim. At this time there have been no arrests in the case pending further investigation.

The stabbing victim was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital for initial treatment. He was later transferred to Oregon Health Sciences University for further treatment.

Deputy Chief Eric Halverson said, “from what we’ve learned so far, it appears these men have had history of conflict with one another. We are continuing to investigate this situation and will be sending the case to the Clatsop County District Attorney’s Office for a charging decision.”
