Arrests were made in the Port of Astoria attempted murder case

The Astoria Police Department and the Clatsop County Major Crimes Team have been investigating an attempted murder of 23-year-old Tristan Dockins of Newport, Oregon, since March 7, 2024. Dockins and the suspect, Dylan Campana, age 28, of Newport, Oregon, worked on the Tommy John fishing vessel, which is currently dry-docked at the Port of Astoria for emergency repairs.

Astoria Police Detective Madyson Hanna obtained information that led her to believe that Campana was in Morro Bay, California.  She contacted the Morro Bay Police Department, and they were able to locate him in the 300 block of Hill Street.  The San Luis Obispo Regional SWAT Team was activated and took Campana into custody without incident.  Campana was arrested for Attempted Murder II, Assault I, Assault II, and Unlawful use of a Weapon.  The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed at a later date.

On March 11, 2024, 53-year-old Ryan Campana, Captain of the Tommy John and Father of Dylan was arrested in Astoria for Hindering.
