…WIDESPREAD STRONG WINDS POSSIBLE TONIGHT INTO EARLY SUNDAY
MORNING…

.A strong low pressure system is expected to move north just off
the Oregon Coast tonight, likely spreading strong winds north
through much of NW Oregon and SW Washington. The strongest winds
are likely to occur along the Central Oregon Coast and into the
southern part of the Willamette Valley, with the storm weakening
slightly as it moves north.

Including the cities of Astoria, Cannon Beach, Tillamook,
Netarts, Pacific City, Vernonia, Jewell, Sunset Summit,
Lees Camp, and Trask

…HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM THIS EVENING TO 4 AM PST
SUNDAY…

The National Weather Service in Portland has issued a High Wind
Warning, which is in effect from 8 PM this evening to 4 AM PST
Sunday.

* WINDS…Southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.

* LOCATIONS INCLUDE…The north Oregon Coast and elevated portions
of the Coast Range of northwest Oregon. This includes the
coastal communities of Astoria, Cannon Beach, and Pacific City,
as well as higher elevations of Highways 6 and 26 in the Coast
Range.

* TIMING…Brief surge of wind, likely lasting less than three
hours. Most likely timing of this surge is around midnight
tonight.

* IMPACTS…Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power
lines. Scattered power outages are expected. Travel will be
difficult for high profile vehicles, especially on exposed
portions of the Astoria-Megler Bridge.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A High Wind Warning means hazardous weather conditions of strong
and damaging winds are imminent or highly likely in the warning
area.

Willapa Hills-South Washington Coast-
Including the cities of Willapa, Frances, Elk Mountain,
Ryderwood, Raymond, Long Beach, Ocean Park, Naselle, Cathlamet,
and Cape Disappointment

…HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 AM
PST SUNDAY…

The National Weather Service in Portland has issued a High Wind
Warning, which is in effect from 10 PM this evening to 6 AM PST
Sunday.

* WINDS…Southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts 50 to 60 mph.

* LOCATIONS INCLUDE…South Washington Coast and Willapa Hills,
including the Long Beach Peninsula, Willapa Bay, and Highway 4
near KM Mountain.

* TIMING…Strongest winds most likely between midnight tonight
and 4 AM Sunday morning.

* IMPACTS…Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power
lines. Scattered power outages are expected. Travel will be
difficult for high profile vehicles, especially on exposed
portions of the Astoria-Megler Bridge.
