Arrests were made in the Port of Astoria attempted murder case

The Astoria Police Department and the Clatsop County Major Crimes Team have been investigating an attempted murder of 23-year-old Tristan Dockins of Newport, Oregon, since March 7, 2024. Dockins and the suspect, Dylan Campana, age 28, of Newport, Oregon, worked on the Tommy John fishing vessel, which is currently dry-docked at the Port of Astoria for emergency repairs.

Astoria Police Detective Madyson Hanna obtained information that led her to believe that Campana was in Morro Bay, California.  She contacted the Morro Bay Police Department, and they were able to locate him in the 300 block of Hill Street.  The San Luis Obispo Regional SWAT Team was activated and took Campana into custody without incident.  Campana was arrested for Attempted Murder II, Assault I, Assault II, and Unlawful use of a Weapon.  The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed at a later date.

On March 11, 2024, 53-year-old Ryan Campana, Captain of the Tommy John and Father of Dylan was arrested in Astoria for Hindering.

The Clatsop County Major Crimes Team, our Officers, and Clatsop County Sheriff’s Office Deputies have been working diligently on the boat yard incident. The victim is stable and continues to improve.

We have obtained an arrest warrant for Dylan Campana for the charges of: Attempted Murder II, Assault I, Assault II, and Unlawful us of a Weapon. We are also releasing an updated picture (below). Please call 911 if you recognize him or see him in the community. His current location is unknown and he is considered armed and dangerous.

Astoria Police Investigate an Attempted Murder

Astoria Police, with the assistance of the Clatsop County Major Crimes Team, are investigating an attempted murder at the Port of Astoria Boatyard located at Pier 3.

On 03/07/2024, the Astoria Fire Department was initially dispatched to a report of a male subject injured in a fall.  During medical treatment, it was discovered that the victim’s injuries were not a result of a fall.  At this time, the victim is not being identified, pending notification of his family.  Detectives are attempting to locate and interview the suspect, 30-year-old Dylan Xavier Campana.  Anyone who knows Campana’s whereabouts is asked to contact their local law enforcement agency.   He should be considered armed and dangerous and is currently wanted on an Oregon State Parole Board Violation.  Dylan is  6’0 tall and weighs 180 pounds.
